The makers of the veggie lifestyle brands Viana, Demeter Soya Alive and Friends, Soyatoo! and VeggieLife have passed their first IFS repeat audit.

In the strenuous audit lasting two days, during which the whole company was turned inside out, Tofutown.com GmbH once again reached the so-called »Higher Level«. The company is probably still the first European maker of soy milk and tofu to be certified according to this quality standard.

What actually is IFS 4?
IFS is a stringent locality based quality management system, which many professional European food traders require of their producers. A total of 338 criteria are audited on site by approved auditors.

What advantages do I have as a customer?
Certainty.

What does »Higher Level« mean?
The IFS is divided into a "foundation level" and a "higher level" (This time the tofu makers achieved 97 %, after 96% in 2006, both of course excellent values).

Does IFS have anything to do with organics?
No - it has to do with process assurance, production quality, traceability of raw materials and also of all packaging, etc., as well as the quality of employees and management and the locality per se.

Are there further IFS-certified organic businesses?
Not that many, because organic products are often distributed by third persons, making the matter somewhat less transparent. However by now there are several colleagues in organic production who are IFS-certified.
